Word Quest Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2025

1. Who we are

Word Quest (the "App") is a casual word game. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

2. What we collect

Personal data you provide: displayName from your Google account (if you sign in for online features).

Game data: Your game progress, statistics, and settings. For online features, this data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore and may be synchronized across your devices.

Data collected by SDKs: Google Firebase services and AdMob may process device and app information for authentication, security, analytics, crash reporting, and advertising. This can include device identifiers, IP address, OS/app versions, event/crash data, and advertising identifiers.

3. How we use data

  • To provide gameplay features (e.g., saving progress and stats, both locally and in the cloud).
  • To enable online features such as global rankings and leaderboards.
  • To synchronize game data across your devices when signed in.
  • To serve personalized advertisements through Google AdMob.
  • To secure the app and prevent abuse using Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity.
  • To understand app usage and improve stability via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.
  • To send push notifications about game updates or features (if enabled by you).

4. Legal basis (UK/UK GDPR)

We process limited personal data necessary for providing the service and securing the app (legitimate interests) and/or to perform the service you request.

5. Third‑party services

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, App Check, Analytics, and Crashlytics) and Google AdMob for advertising. These services are provided by Google; their processing and retention are governed by Google's terms and privacy policies. AdMob may use advertising identifiers and other data to serve personalized ads.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your control: Account/profile data in the App (e.g., displayName, progress, cloud saves) can be deleted by you at any time from the App settings. Account deletion permanently removes all your game data and cannot be undone.

Third-party data: Analytics, crash data, and advertising data are retained by Google according to their policies and may not be deleted by the developer. You can manage ad personalization through your Google account settings.

7. International transfers

Google may process data on servers located outside the UK. Appropriate safeguards are relied upon by Google for such transfers.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain information. You can delete your in‑app profile at any time. For analytics or crash data, please refer to Google's privacy documentation.

9. Security

We use Firebase App Check and other safeguards to help protect the service from abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be shown in the App.
